Citizens across every 50 states of the union are preparing to demonstrate this Saturday, joined around a central idea: the nation is descending into authoritarianism and there should be no kings in the US.
Millions are expected to take part in the No Kings demonstrations, constituting a further occurrence of a coalition that earlier protested during one of the most massive demonstration days in American history. Rallies are scheduled for more than 2,700 venues, from tiny communities to major urban centers.
The existing administration has cracked down across urban centers, attempting to send in national forces and adding enforcement officers. He is seeking to criminalize protest, going after liberal groups that he claims supporting terrorism or political violence. Local governments have mostly fought back, filing lawsuits to stop military presence, and residents have hit to the streets to speak out against the militarization in their neighborhoods.
Backers of the administration have attempted to label these anti-monarchy protests as unpatriotic and driven by anti-fascist groups, the non-hierarchical political movement, and alleging that these actions are extending the federal standstill. A prominent governor has announced he plans to assign the local troops to Austin in advance of the events.
Various politicians, including congressional members representing the left and independent affiliations, are likely to attend the protests. The No Kings movement has repeatedly emphasized its devotion to peaceful resistance, with many thousands of participants have studied on security and peaceful engagement strategies.
“What’s most important for participants to uphold is how the president wants us to become intimidated, but we will not be pressured into fear and quiet,” said a leader associated with a participating coalition. “Furthermore, it’s incredibly important for people to stay peaceful, to hold their heads high and to say what they care about, and not to be cowed by that fear.”
More than 200 organizations have aligned as supporters for the fall rallies. Coordinators have selected multiple anchor cities: such as the nation's capital, San Francisco, SD, ATL, the Big Apple, H-Town, Hawaii, Massachusetts, KC, Bozeman, Illinois NOLA.
The straightforward message of these actions emphasizes that the United States rejects monarchy, a criticism aimed at the administration's growing authoritarianism. Included in the ideas planners have pointed to include:
The June anti-authoritarian rallies brought out vast crowds to the streets, with estimates suggesting that approximately 2 and 4.8 million participants joined actions across more than 2,000 locations which constituted likely the second-largest single day protest after the leader first took office in 2017”, exceeded only by another major protest in 2017.
